Shahram Yazdani

Opera Singer

Shahram Yazdani is an Iranian German opera singer, voice teacher and songwriter based in Germany. In 1999 he began his education in music theory under the guidance of Morteza Del Shab. From 2003-2007 he studied with Franco Tenelli, to learn the Italian Appoggio technique. In 2010 he received his master’s degree in music and began his professional life, teaching and performing in Iran. As a teacher in music schools in Tehran and Alborz, he gave numerous vocal seminars and workshops throughout Iran, and was guest professor at the Alborz University of Arts 2015-2016. At the same time he performed concerts throughout the country, in the prestigious Rudaki and Vahdat halls, singing Rigoletto and Tosca and solos with the Aiso Orchestra conducted by Christian Schultz. In 2016 he moved to Italy, at the invitation of the head of the Franz Liszt International Society in Grottammare, where he was part of the jury for their young musicians competition. A year later he moved to Germany, where he is now a permanent resident and where he has had the opportunity to study with Chris Merritt, Martin Muehle, Jack Li Vigni and Montserrat Caballe. 

In 2019 he was invited for the roles of Calaf and Pang in a double casted Turandot in Sweden for Opera På Skäret. In 2020 he was cast in the role of Turiddu for a concert version of Cavalleria Rusticana for Mythos Opera at the Tina di Lorenzo Theater in Noto. Summer 2021 he performed arias from Otello alongside international soloists from Italy, Spain, South Korea, Belgium and Germany, in a Gala Concert organised by Opera Classica Europa in Bad Kloster Eberbach/Germany, with conductor Maestro Hans Härle. 

In February 25th 2023 he was invited for the Gala concert dedicated to the great Enrico Caruso titled as “Homage to Enrico Caruso on his 150th Birthday” alongside nine other tenors from all around the world in Kurhaus Bad Kloster Eberbach/Germany organized by Opera Classica Europa.

On May 11th till 14th 2023, he debuted as Don José in a fully staged Opera Carmen production directed by Stefanos Koroneos under the boton of Myron Michailidis and the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra in collaboration with “The New Athens Academic” and Heraklion Choir which took place in the Cultural Conference Center Theatre of Heraklion in Crete/Greece organised by Teatro Grattacielo & Camerata Bardi as a Co-Production.

In June 30th 2023 he was once again invited by Opera Classica Europa and it’s orchestra, this time for an open air Gala at Domplatz in Limburg an der Lahn/Germany

On 2nd July 2023 he was hired for another open air concert called “Opera night and love songs” oganized by L’Opera Piccola in Oberursel in Germany.

He is nominated for the best tenor of the year in 23rd Grand tenors tournament Gala awards as one of the 8 final tenors which takes place in Szczecinie and the Heleny Majdaniec aphitheatre on 2nd September 2023.

Beside being a full time active Opera singer, he takes some time for acting and his original musics and songwriting.

Filmmakers Margit Lukacs and Persijn Broerson created an avatar music video of Shahram singing his Persian version of Nat King Cole’s Nature Boy. The film was shown at the Louvre Museum in Paris, FOAM Museum in Amsterdam, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, as well as museums in Denmark, Belgium and China. Shahram is also active in contemporary music, selected for the role of Thoth in the first opera based on James Joyce’s Ulysse, The Wandering by Ken Shakin, which premiered in Berlin in 2018 at the Delphi Theater as part of the Irish Embassy’s cultural program
